HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- SIMPLE MAKE-UP REMOVER

Here's a quick fix for make-up removal -- instead of cold cream or just soap and water, try a cotton pad or ball with baby oil. Swipe it across your face. It works just as well as a commercial make-up remover.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- STATIC-FREE HAIR

Problems with static when you brush your hair? Take a tiny bit of lotion and run it through your hair ... but not at the roots. This will make it much more manageable and keep the static away.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- NATURAL HIGHLIGHTS

Run a bit of lemon juice through your hair, then sit in the sun for 15-20 minutes, for natural, subtle highlights. Be sure to condition afterwards so the lemon doesn't irritate your scalp.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- CHAMMOMILE RINSE

For softer, shinier hair, soak two bags of chamomile tea in two cups of water, and use this as a final rinse when you wash your hair. This also gives your hair a much nicer scent than most shampoos.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- HELP FOR DAMAGED HAIR

Give your hair time to repair itself. Keep the heat off by letting your hair air-dry as often as possible. If you must use a hair dryer, use a nozzle to put some distance between you and the dryer's heat.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- APPLYING LIPSTICK WITHOUT A MIRROR

If you need to fix up your lipstick but can't find a mirror, try this: using one finger from your free hand as a guide, position the tip of your lipstick at the center of the "bow" of your mouth. Tracing the edge of your lips with that finger, draw a half-heart shape from the center to the edge of your mouth on both sides. Then, using that same finger, trace the outside of your lower lip while applying the lipstick from the center. Don't rub your lips together -- that will just smear those nice even lines!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- PICKING A PURSE

If you're the type who likes to have everything on hand, make your next purse a lightweight one with rolled or thick straps. Thin straps are uncomfortable to carry when your purse is heavy, and are better suited for women who don't carry much in their bags.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- GETTING THE PERFECT HAIRCUT

Make sure your stylist knows exactly what you want, and help her get it just right. Sit up straight in your chair, to make sure your posture (and thus your style) isn't skewed. And instead of just describing what you want, use your hands to indicate length and style wherever you can. This gives the stylist a better idea visually of what you're going fo

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- GET THE MOST OUT OF LIPSTICK

You don't need to buy multiple tubes of lipstick to get different looks! If you want a glossy finish, apply a thin layer of Vaseline to your lips first. Dust your lipstick with some loose powder once it's applied for a matte finish, or pat it on gently for a stain. And for an evening style, mix your lipstick with a bit of dark eyeshadow.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - GREEN TEA

Don't wait until you go out for sushi to have green tea! Studies show that green tea can actually speed up your metabolism, helping your body burn fat and calories more quickly. Try replacing your regular coffee or tea with green tea when you have the opportunity.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- SPEED UP YOUR METABOLISM

Increasing your metabolism helps you burn fat more quickly. Believe it or not, carbs actually help on a diet because they give your body the energy it needs to burn off calories. Don't skip breakfast, and when you sit down to eat, opt for hot meals to speed up your metabolism while you eat. And, of course, make sure you get plenty of exercise to condition your body to burn fat more efficiently.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- NATURAL ACNE TREATMENTS

Go natural with your acne treatments! Zinc supplements help some women keep their skin clear when taken on a regular basis. Echinacea, either taken orally or applied to the skin, also helps many people, as well as tea tree oil. Always check with your doctor before trying any sort of alternative treatment.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- COVER UP DARK CIRCLES

Make your concealer more effective by checking the color of the dark circles under your eyes first. If they're gray, apply a soft pink eyeshadow to the dark area before you put on your concealer. If they're more bluish, use light peach eyeshadow. Also, don't use concealer that's too light (two shades or more lighter than your natural skin tone), and don't lay it on too thick ... that can make the rest of your face look too dark.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- HELP FOR TIRED FEET

If your feet are hurting after a long day, try this: soak your feet in warm water mixed with bath salts for about ten minutes. Don't just dry your feet off afterwards, though -- wash them with soap and water, then apply some moisturizer.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- SIMPLE HAND MASSAGE

To stimulate circulation in your hands, rub the palm of one hand over the back of the other, then repeat with the other hand -- something like washing your hands. In addition to stimulating circulation, it also warms your hands.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- FOOD FOR HEALTHIER SKIN

Drinking lots of water really is good for you, and it also keeps your skin looking younger and healthier. Low-sugar fruits, like berries and melons, also help keep your skin firm without being so sweet as to increase your blood sugar (which encourages water retention and increased inflammation).

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- FOOD FOR SHINY HAIR

Want to give your hair a little extra shine? Increase the amount of vitamin E in your diet -- nuts and green vegetables are good for this. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids also improve your hair's health ... you can get those from salt-water fish and dark green, leafy veggies.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- COMPLEMENTING YOUR CLOTHING

Contrary to popular belief, it's not necessary to match the color of your outfit exactly when choosing makeup. The first thing you should bear in mind is your skin tone -- what looks best on you? Once you know what colors work best for you, choose from those to complement what you're wearing.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- HEALTHY EATING FOR HAIR

Did you know that hair growth and health can be affected by your diet? Iron deficiency, which comes from a diet lacking in things like meat, eggs, and cereals, can damage your hair. Make sure to eat the proper amount, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- ACNE SCARS

Health and Beauty Tip -- Acne Scars
If you ever had a problem with acne, you may have been left with acne scars. If you have mild scarring and don't want to try chemical peels or other home treatments that could hurt sensitive skin, go for a natural alternative. Aloe vera, rosehip seed oil, and lavendar oils are all said to help reduce the appearance of mild acne scars. However, it is always best to consult your dermatologist first.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- EATING BEFORE BEDTIME

Contrary to popular belief, snacks eaten before bed don't turn straight into fat! As long as the calorie intake fits into your diet plan, you can have something to eat before bed -- the calories will be burned off the next day, and even while you sleep. However, it's still better to eat earlier in the day, when your body needs the extra energy.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- LONG-LASTING EYESHADOW

To keep your eyeshadow looking great all day, apply a little concealer to your eyelid before brushing it on. This will make it last all day!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- QUICK EYE MAKEUP

In a hurry? A single coat of mascara doesn't take much time to apply. A little bit of eyeshadow in a color complementary to your outfit can also bring out your eyes. It should only take a few seconds to apply shadow, but if you're in a real rush, mascara alone will work fine.
