HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Hold your nose and drink up -- this old folk remedy really works! Drinking a little apple cider vinegar each day helps keep skin supple, break down fat, and makes it easier for your body to digest food properly. A daily dose in water also helps keep down your blood pressure. If you just can't bring yourself to drink it, try mixing it with apple juice or honey first.

WHAT'S THE SECRET, VICTORIA?

Dear Readers,
Tomorrow we will be back to the norm but for today here is a bit of news from the company we all know as the PINK PEOPLE or JUST FOR US LADIES!!!!

Victoria's Secret sued over Rump Slogans
NEW YORK (UPI) -- Juicy Couture filed suit against Victoria's Secret in a New York federal court, claiming the lingerie giant stole its idea to print words on women's behinds.

California-based Juicy Couture has accused Victoria's Secret of capitalizing on its trendy idea to print logos on the backsides of pants, a style typically worn by women in their late teens and early 20s, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Juicy's suit, filed Tuesday, claims Victoria's Secret also copied their idea to sell merchandise in packages that look like lollipops, ice cream cones and bon bons.

The suit also accuses the apparel giant of using misleading trade methods in an attempt to profit from Juicy's success, the report said.

Juicy reportedly is seeking three times the amount of money Victoria's Secret made on allegedly stolen ideas. The company also wants all clothes based on stolen ideas to be destroyed, the Daily News said.

Victoria's Secret declined to comment on the suit immediately, report said.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- FOOD FOR YOUR SKIN

There are many different foods you can add to your diet to keep your skin looking young and healthy. Carrots, for example, have the same properties as Retin A, and help maintain the outer layers of your skin. Garlic and sweet potatoes are both known for their ability to combat wrinkles, and citrus fruits help hold skin cells together by producing collagen.

Survey: Skin issues peak for women in 40s
LONG BEACH, Calif. (UPI) -- Most women say a skin care professional is the best source for skin care information, but 12 percent seek skin care professionals, a U.S. survey indicated.

Eighty-four percent of women have at least one issue with their skin, and skin issues appear to peak among women in their 40s, who report having four skin care issues, the survey indicated. The survey was conducted by The Segmentation Company, a division of Yankelovich, Inc., for Obagi Medical Products, Inc.

Nearly half of those surveyed -- 47 percent -- said they are not happy with the condition of their skin.

Forty-six percent of all women surveyed said no matter how good their hair or clothes look, they can't feel good about themselves if their skin is in poor condition, the survey said.

The survey of 1,005 women ages 18 to 75 -- with an average age of 43, with 73 percent Caucasian, 53 percent married and with various incomes -- has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - TREAT YOURSELF DURING DIETS

Remember, it's not healthy to cut all fat from your diet. Your body still needs a little to maintain good health. One way to do this is to, on occasion, treat yourself to a little of your favorite food. Your body won't crave it as much, which will discourage binging later on. Just don't overdo it -- be responsible!

BEAUTY AFTER 50 - FOR LAUGHS AND GOOD CHEER - THANKS TO MS JULIE ANDREWS

DEAR READERS,
TODAY I WILL CHANGE FROM THE NORM TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF HUMOUR AND GOOD CHEER.
Have a Great Day!
Brenda A. Ysaguirre

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the
AARP.

One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favourite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:

Sing It!) - If
you sing it, its especially hysterical!!!

Maalox and nose drops and
needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Cadillac’s and cataracts,
and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and
false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with
swings,

These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,

I simply remember my favourite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets
and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,

These are a few of my favourite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,

When we remember our favourite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews
received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes
and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humour with
others who would appreciate
it

BEAUTY TIP - MORE USES FOR VINEGAR

You may have read before that drinking apple cider vinegar is good for your body ... but guess what? It's also good for your hair! Rinsing your hair with about a tablespoon of vinegar in two cups of warm water after shampooing helps get rid of any shampoo residue. It also adds shine and strengthens hair -- good news for women with fine hair.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - HELP FOR OILY HAIR

If you have trouble with oily hair, make sure you're not using any products that claim to give your hair "extra shine" -- you have plenty already! Make sure you don't use two-in-one shampoo/conditioners or anti-frizz products, either. Instead, consult a beautician. For a quick fix, rub a little talcum powder into dry hair at the roots ... and make sure to wash or brush it out!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP -- A SEMI-FORMAL PONYTAIL

Yes, a ponytail can look nice at the office or a dinner out! Part your hair a bit off-center, and make a loose ponytail in the lower middle of the back of your head. Make sure to dry your hair with a blow dryer and comb it straight. As easy as it might be, making a ponytail while your hair is still wet doesn't look good at all!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - NEW SUNSCREEN

When buying sunscreen this summer, look for two new ingredients: meroxyl and helioplex. These will help protect from both UVA and UVB rays, and are showing up in more and more products this year

BEAUTY TIP- MAKEUP AND MOISTURIZING

Health and Beauty Tip -- Makeup and Moisturizing
If you're accustomed to using a heavy moisturizer on your face, stop using it during the day. Use a lighter moisturizer under makeup, and save the heavier one until bedtime. This will help your makeup go on more evenly, and is more effective than "laying it on" twice a day.

Health and Beauty Tip -- Treatment for Tired Eyes

To rejuvenate tired eyes, lay a slice of cold cucumber over each eye -- it really works! The reason is simple, though: anything cool over your eyes helps reduce redness, and makes them feel better, too. If you're looking for something easier, use a cool, damp washcloth instead.

THREE BEAUTY TIPS SINCE I WAS AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER FOR DAYS!!

Beauty Tip -- Taking Care of Bras
Storing your bras incorrectly may cause the underwires to poke out after just a few wearings. To keep them from getting twisted, store your bras on a hook in your closet, rather than in a dresser drawer.

Beauty Tip -- Selecting Hosiery
Make your legs look longer and slimmer by matching your hose as closely as possibly to your skirt and shoes. For two-toned shoes, wear a neutral color, or try to match the lightest color in the shoes -- never wear hose darker than this!

Beauty Tip -- Dress Monochrome
If you want to look taller and slimmer, try wearing one color from head to toe. Not only does it work on everybody, but it's also trendy among fashion designs

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - TROUBLE WITH BRITTLE NAILS

Health and Beauty Tip -- Trouble with Brittle Nails
If your nails are brittle, you may not be getting enough calcium. Make sure you get plenty in your diet, both in the food you eat, as well as vitamins if necessary. Also, check the labels on your scented or perfumed hand lotions -- these tend to contain alcohol, and can make brittle nails worse.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - EATING OUT ON A DIET

You can still control what you eat when you go out to dinner. Drink a glass of skim milk before you leave home to curb your appetite a bit, and have a healthy meal in mind before you get there -- knowing what you want will ensure that you avoid looking at the menu and being tempted. Ask for oil and vinegar or the house vinaigrette on your salad (and use sparingly), and remember -- sharing a dessert doesn't count as skipping!

HEALTH AND BEAUTY TIP - WAYS TO GAUGE WEIGHT LOSS

Don't obsess over weight -- pick something such as waist measurement or dress size to chart your progress. A great way to do this is to pick two outfits: one that fits perfectly at the start of your diet, and one that's too tight. Try them both on every four weeks to get a real feel for how you're doing.

BEAUTY TIP - CREAM FOUNDATIONS

For a healthy glow, use gel or cream blushes instead of powder in a rosy pink. These are more transparent and blend smoothly. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks and blend up towards the eyes for a natural look.
